The recently founded Würzburg Initiative 3R (WI3R) has announced its 1st International Conference taking place on the 5-7th of June 2024 at the Rudolf Virchow Center in Würzburg (Germany).

WI3R bundles the Bavarian activities in the field of 3R from science, regulatory authorities and industry and networks with existing 3R centers in Germany, Europe and worldwide.

The event is co-organized by the Fraunhofer TLC-RT, the German Research Foundation (DFG) funded research clusters SFB/TRR 225 (“From the fundamentals of biofabrication towards functional tissue models”), GRK2157 (3D-Infect) and SFB 1583 (Decide) of University Hospital and University of Würzburg as a joint event.

Within the 1st WI3R symposium the German Research Foundation (DFG) will grant the 10th anniversary of the Ursula M. Händel Animal Welfare Prize. The Ursula M. Händel Animal Welfare Prize recognizes scientists who have made exemplary and sustained efforts to improve the welfare of animals in research. The €80,000 prize is currently the largest prize of its kind in Germany, awarded every two years.
