As part of the cluster initiative of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, an annual call for tenders for cross-cluster projects is made. The aim is to promote innovations at the interfaces between different clusters.
This year’s call is entirely dedicated to the bioeconomy, a topic that Chemie-Cluster Bayern has long been addressing and is therefore represented in three cross-cluster projects this year:
In cooperation with Cluster Neue Werkstoffe, Chemie-Cluster is working on the generation of new, bio-based value chains in Bavaria. With the help of the Value Chain Generator Tool created in the Interreg project AlpLinkBioEco, Bavarian companies in the two clusters in particular, are to be brought together. With the help of a potential analysis, topics and actors are selected and concrete measures are derived in order to initiate cooperation. Possible starting points and topics include products and basic chemicals made from renewable raw materials and residues, the development of new biopolymers and bio-based additives as well as new methods and processes for bio-based value creation. First ideas for implementation have already been generated in an internal training course on the use of the Value Chain Generator.
With the project WeReLaNa (value-added networks for the use of residues from the agriculture and food industry as an innovation driver for the bioeconomy), Cluster Ernährung Bayern, Umweltcluster Bayern and Chemie-Cluster Bayern dedicate themselves to the use of residues from agriculture and the food industry, initially in the Upper Franconian region. Nevertheless, transfer potential for the whole of Bavaria as well as the networking of stakeholders along the relevant value chains and networks are taken into account.
In a third project, the teams from Industrielle Biotechnologie Bayern Netzwerk GmbH (IBB) and Chemie-Cluster Bayern are planning a joint event on bioeconomy. The Sustainable Economy Forum is to take place in early 2022.
All projects are funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy as part of the “Cross-Cluster-Bavaria Bioeconomy” funding initiative (project duration: 01.01. To 31.12.2021).
