Our colleague Kerstin Schindler and Stefan Riegg from the Umweltcluster Bayern met with associated partners from the IHK Nuremberg, Fraunhofer UMSICHT, and the Resource Efficiency Center (REZ) Bavaria.
The project aims to match material flows in plastic recycling. The focus is particularly on producers of “waste materials” who seek sustainable utilization of their materials. Often, these materials come with impurities or quantities that cannot be processed through regular mechanical or solvent-based recycling channels.
Chemical recycling may open new opportunities here. Existing databases and platforms from the associated partners will be used to clarify the requirements for a platform, in collaboration with recycling companies and producers of specific waste materials. The goal is to implement this platform with the partners for companies in the long term.
Long-term integration and financing are also key points that the project will address.
