Interview with Matthias Schwarz, CEO of Rottal Hemp

Rottal Hanf is a company based in Bavaria that aims to fully utilise the hemp plant, from the nutrient-rich seeds and fibres to the shives and dust generated during production. The aim is to develop regional value chains based on the principles of the bioeconomy. Matthias Schwarz, Managing Director of Rottal Hanf, gave us some insights into the potential of hemp for the circular economy, which goes beyond its use in the food sector.

In TeBiCE, we aim to develop a market for biomass and residual materials. The goal is to find new value chains and further improve existing ones based on former waste. The aim is to increase value creation and resource efficiency. In the project, a consortium of eight partners from regions in six countries are working together to establish new circular economy processes. The project is supported by a digital tool from VCG.AI
