On 22 October 2025, a key milestone in the project BAMBI – Market Potential of the Wood-Based Bioeconomy in Bavaria took place at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. Around 70 experts from industry, start-ups, research and science came together for the stakeholder workshop to collaboratively shape the future of wood-based value creation.
At the heart of the workshop was the participatory development of concrete ideas and solution approaches. In two intensive discussion rounds across six themed tables, participants identified, prioritised and advanced both potential and challenges – spanning the entire wood value chain.
A highlight of the day was the visit of State Secretary Tobias Gotthardt, who emphasised the role of the bioeconomy as a key driver for a future-proof and resilient economy in Bavaria.
The workshop clearly demonstrated the importance of interdisciplinary exchange in developing innovative pathways for sustainable transformation. The input gathered will now be consolidated and incorporated into the next steps of the project – with the goal of translating the wood-based bioeconomy from vision into practice.
The BAMBI project is a joint initiative of Chemie-Cluster Bayern GmbH, the Cluster-Initiative Forst und Holz in Bayern gGmbH, C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V., mcc innovare and .bwc. management consulting GmbH. It is funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all participants for their active contributions – and to Sebastian Reiter for capturing the workshop in photographs.
