GKZ is a triple helix network of industrie, public research organisations and administration operating along the entire value chain in the raw materials, energy, geotechnical and environmental sector.

Its focus is on the implementation of the EU Green Deal by research and innovation as well as coordinate and support actions in order to improve the socio-economic framework conditions for its implementation.

GKZ holds membership in the European Technology Platform of Sustainable Mineral Resources (ETP SMR) and is well networked with European clusters of diverse ecosystems. As such it actively cooperates with Chemie Cluster Bayern.
